A rare gem in the heart of the community, the dance school is located in Coundon, Coventry
When new students first arrive at ‘the studio’ they are often blown away by its size, large mirrors and block wooden floor that make it perfect for budding dancers. Indeed, the studio is quite rare in that it belongs to the school and is not a rented space meaning that it fits the needs of the dancers perfectly and has remained a hub for all things performance for almost 40 years.
It wasn’t always a dance studio though. In actual fact it was a community hall, owned by the Co-Op for many years, that had fallen into disrepair until Three Spires principal, Elaine Ferry, came along.
It was a huge challenge. The building had to be completely renovated, a job that fell to Elaine’s husband, Bob, who along with a few friends did all the work himself as the dance school had only just started and money was tight.

It took many months of hard graft to get the building in the shape you see today. Elaine’s one request was that it had two large mirrors at one end so that the dancers might see themselves to aid with corrections.
‘It took many months of hard graft to get the building in the shape you see today.’
Over the years, hundreds and hundreds of young dancers have spent hours in the studio, perfecting their technique, learning choreography and just having fun. It has had several revamps but has remained true to the original vision of the couple who built it, Elaine and Bob.

We hope that this special dance studio remains at the heart of the community for many years to come, a testament to hard work and a sprinkle of dance magic.
